Thank you for considering signing the Good Food in Greenwich (GFiG) Community Charter!

You’re probably already doing some amazing things, and 

this is an incredible step towards running a healthier, more sustainable organisation which brings loads of opportunities to shout about what you’re doing. 

Charter Criteria 

You only need to meet 5 of the 11 criteria which you can choose.  And if you don’t meet 5 criteria, we’ll support you through the process and give you simple clear steps on how to achieve this free charter.

Promoting healthy eating is part of promoting health in the workplace. Research has shown that the benefits of improving health in the workplace include increased motivation, more innovation and improved public image.

This could be businesses that have successfully registered with hospitality, retail and community charters to supply food for your businesses and space for your events, workshops and business meetings

Crate of Vegetables

Supporting a workplace veg box scheme is a commendable initiative with multifaceted benefits.

 

There will be local or national veg box schemes which you could promote through your workplace

This could be businesses that have successfully registered with hospitality, retail and community charters to supply food for your businesses and space for your events, workshops and business meetings

1. Are you a breastfeeding friendly space? Required
2.1 Do you separate, recycle and/or compost your food waste? Required
2.2 Do you have appropriate bins, or know where to obtain them from? Required
3. Do you discourage plastic bottled water? Required
4.1 Do you ensure healthy food and drink options are available for your staff?
4.2 Are healthier options available in the vending machines? Required
4.3 Is fruit available weekly for staff in shared kitchen/communal eating areas? Required
4.4 Do you have a food and drinks policy? See above to download an example template Required
5. Do you promote a sustainable healthy workplace to your community? Various options to support this are: Required
6. Do you promote healthy eating to the community? (A healthy diet, high in fruit, vegetables, whole grains can support with healthy weight, heart health and boost good mental health) Required
7. Do you use Fairtrade Products? Check out the link above to see which foods or drinks you use in your organisation and which you could replace with Fairtrade versions Required
8. Are you a London Water Refill location? (Anyone can download the free Refill app to find Refill Stations near them where they can refill their water bottle on the go, for more info see the link above)
11. Do you procure from local Good Food in Greenwich accredited food businesses? This could be businesses that have successfully registered with hospitality, retail and community charters to supply food for your businesses and space for your events, workshops and business meetings.
10. Do you partner with others in your community? (e.g. support community events, donate food left over, host community group meetings).
12. Are you an accredited London Living Wage employer? If you are paying your staff the London Living Wage you can get accreditation. See the link above for more information.
13. Are you a member of the Good Food in Greenwich Network? This is the borough food partnership network that brings everyone together to raise awareness of why good food matters and promote best practice.

Good Food in Greenwich has subgroups of which you may wish to be a member:

14.1 Are you a member of the Good Food in Greenwich Food Action Alliance? This is a group of individuals and projects that come together to share information and resources on supporting those experiencing food insecurity.

14.2 Are you a member of Growing Greenwich? This is a borough wide growing network which brings together people interested in food growing, our local environment and other projects focusing on nature in the area.
